Benicia, CA

Tomorrow there is an annual craft fair in Benicia, where I live. It's one I went to every year as a kid, but I have not been in a few years. Next year, I plan on applying for a booth and selling there myself. I can't wait to go tomorrow and soak up all the creative vibes. I remember it always being a really good fair, so I hope it still is. I was looking for information about it, online tonight. While doing this I discovered some really great photos of Benicia, and thought it was worth sharing about this great city I live in.

And some facts about Benicia, some of which I hadn't realized.

Benicia is one of Money magazine's "Best Places to Live 2005" (August 2005).

Nick Jr. Family Magazine recognized Benicia in April 2004 as one of the "10 Most Playful Towns in America"

History is alive in Benicia - it was the third California city to incorporate, the third California State Capital, and the only historic capital location where the original building still stands

Benicia has more parks per capita than any other Solano County City

Schools ranked top 15% in nation by SchoolMatch, a private corporate site location firm

Named Best Place to Raise a Family according to a San Francisco Chronicle survey. 38% of households have children under age 18 at home

Benicia was recognized by Money magazine as one of the "Best Places to Live on the Coast"

Benicia is noted for our arts community. American Style magazine ranked Benicia #7 of the "2005 Top Art Spots", in the small town category

Benicia was one of San Francisco magazine's featured areas in the November 2001 article "A Change in the Hood - 15 Bay Area communities that are hipper, cheaper, and more neighborly than anyone knew"

It truly is a great city to live in and raise a family in. I'm lucky to have lived here my whole life.
